Re: ...Information on Joseph B. Geddie [retired as Florida farmer], who was parolled at Appomattox. I knew he was in an Arkansas unit. Joseph's papers [in the Florida Civil War Records web pages] include one from 1897 in which one John Cameron attests that Joseph was wounded at Gettysburg (shell explosion) and surrendered at Appomattox. Am still not sure exactly who he is other than apparently one of the north Louisiana/southern Arkansas [Geddie] group which also included my grandfather and great-gfather, JJ and Alexander Geddie. Thought someone out there would be interested.
JOHN GEDDIE, Ashburn Virginia
[NB: John Geddie, Editor of "The Easterner"
newspaper in
Virginia, adds that James B. Geddie's data can
be found by searching "Florida pensions" and then searching for "Geddie" on
the pensions records website. Intriguing also is that among these Florida
pension records is the 1904 Pension Application of Elizabeth Geddie, the widow
of Joseph B. Geddie, who also served for the CSA. Further
family information on Joseph B., James B., or Elizabeth Geddie would be
welcomed].
Interested in any info anyone might have about my family. My father's name was Cecil (Geddie). His father's name was Ledelle. All assistance is greatly appreciated.

I write to
you from Port Elizabeth, South Africa with the hope that my information may be of
interest to you.
My grandmother was Hettie Jane Geddie born on 11 October 1896. She married John
Cuthbert Reynolds who was born on 8 October 1895. They lived in East London, SA
and my grandmother passed away aged 87 in 1983. My grandfather passed away in
1954. I believe my grandmother's father was one of a twin and were Scottish
shipbuilders who came to East London, South Africa. I do not have any other
information on them but would love to know more if you can help.
Hettie Jane had 4 children : Joan - married Lionel Andrews (two boys Anthony and
John William Andrews)
My mother : Patricia - married Herbert Sinclair Brukman (three children - John
Herbert, Peter Allan and Anne (myself)
: John Lewis - married Cynthia Krietzmann (three children - Graham, Lynn and
Kenneth
: Marie - married Ted Amiel (one child - Sharon)
I have noticed from records that our family name Brukman has been mispelt -
often as Britman
My mother, Patricia is 86 years old now and in good health. She lives in Port
Elizabeth
My father, Herbert Sinclair passed away aged 80 in 1999.
I knew my grandmother well before she passed away and she gave me her genealogy
book to read on the Geddies.
My immediate family members married : John Herbert - Heidi Blok
Peter Allan - Sandra Ellaine Curtain
Anne - Philip Alan Moolman (myself)
Warmest regards
ANNE MOOLMAN
